Emory is a pioneer in sustainability efforts in America. Emory has made an institutional commitment to reduce energy consumption by 25% by 2015. We are doing extremely well in terms of reaching this goal, with all of the Emory community getting on board to help! All of our newly-constructed buildings are LEED certified, there are incredible resources for sustainable food fairs, recycling bins are found all over campus, and most students walk or bike to campus (just to name a few of our successes).
Emory also believes in educating students to help our own community, as well Atlanta and the world. Emory has introduced a new minor, Community Building and Social Change, to better impact society. It is designed to offer students from a variety of majors an introduction to the challenges and opportunities for revitalizing and strengthening communities in contemporary urban America. The minor comprises twenty semester hours.
